Just In Case You’re Still Wondering…

…why I’m not posting about my workouts or anything like that, its because my foot is still wonky. I do pilates twice a week and the P90x AbRipper DVD another couple of times a week, but that’s it really. I’m trying very hard to stay off my foot so that it can heal (1) ASAP and (2) properly. I have another follow-up doc appointment this week, so we’ll see. In this last very frustrating 8.5 weeks, I’ve definitely lost some… Continue Reading

My Little Ones Are Growing!

To your left are the green bean seedlings and to the right are the tomato seedlings. I’ll definitely have to transplant the green beans by Friday if not sooner; the tomato ones, depending on their growth, may have to wait a little longer. There are little parsley shoots and I saw one rosemary shoot this morning….at least I think it’s rosemary anyway. Continue Reading

(Relatively) Healthy Caesar Salad

Caesar salad (deservedly) gets a bad rap as being loaded with fat. I made a Caesar salad last night that would make you lose a lot of that guilt. Here is the recipe for better-than-bottled salad dressing (for a single serving): 1 – Rinse your romaine lettuce leaves and pat or spin dry (the salad dressing won’t stick to the leaves if they’re wet). Crush four cloves of garlic and rub into a (preferably) wooden bowl; you want the garlic… Continue Reading

Make This Epic Fruit Salad

This fruit salad is so yummy, healthy, and filling. Start by chopping up at least four different kinds of fruit, I used three strawberries, one kiwi, six grapes, and one banana. Actually, I used two finger rose bananas since they’re a lot smaller. I’m trying to figure out what is the real name for this banana; it is short and fat and very sweet with a skin that is much thinner than a normal banana. My google search leads me… Continue Reading

Vegetable Garden is on the Way….Kinda

Those, my friends, are the seeds which will give rise to my tomatoes….I hope. I took the seeds from our local tomato and planted them in a pot. Once they grow to about 4inches in height, I’ll put them in the earth. I also planted rosemary, parsley, and green bean seeds. Continue Reading

12 Questions for Rhino

The hotness in the pic below is a good friend of mine who agreed to answer CFN’s 12 Questions. For as long as I’ve known Rhino (needless to say, not his real name) has always had this body. He is a man of few words (actually, not really…not in person anyway) who stays super-active. 1. How do you maintain your sexiness? Staying active 2. When and why did you start exercising? High school 3. Did you have an active childhood?… Continue Reading

I Want a Vegetable Garden

Now that I’m back living in year-round warmth and have an actual yard, I want a backyard garden. Nothing to fantastic, just a little something. We have one at our house already, so I just need to add a few more things. This is what we already have: In addition to the above stuff, I’m going to plant green beans (the pole variety), tomatoes, regular thyme, and rosemary. I need to tidy up the patch we have now and make… Continue Reading

Today’s Workout…….

…was P90X! I’m not doing the full workouts because of my wonky foot but I can do most of the upper body DVDs. I did the Ab RipperX and the Chest & Back workout. It felt great! Yesterday I attended pilates class with Bridgette….amazing workout! Continue Reading

I’m STILL Busted

What you are looking at is a pic of the first x-ray I took (in October) of my foot that shows (circled in red) my seasomoid fracture. It is a tiny little thing but it is causing me much misery. I went to an orthopaedic surgeon on Friday for a follow-up. I explained to him how exactly I sustained the injury and how long ago. Confused that I was still experiencing pain, he put my foot on his lap (kinky,… Continue Reading

Today’s Workout…

…was pilates and it was wonderful! I went with my cousin, Sarah-Anne, this morning to her usual pilates class taught by Bridgette Hall. It was a small class today which was great. I still have my funky boot on so Bridgette took note and made sure throughout the class that I wasn’t doing anything to hurt my foot. Bridgette was thorough, explained everything, and tried to help us visualize the different actions we were supposed to be performing. I had… Continue Reading

Trans-Antigua Half Marathon

The young man above, George Hypolite, is the winner of the Trans-Antigua Half Marathon who finished the run in 1:40:09. Race date was Sunday December 5, 2010. The run, organized by Sandals Foundation, started at 7:15am…any later, the sun would have been blazing down on the runners. Thankfully, most of the day was cloudy and it only got super-hot near the end of the run (running in 85degrees ain’t fun). The run was headlined by Rick Ball, world record holder… Continue Reading

Farmer’s Market Antigua

The farmer’s market here at home is so cute! I absolutely love going there….I love fresh food and I especially love supporting the local economy. The prices are reasonable (oh..in the pic above, you’ll see that eggs are $9.50, but that is not US dollars, our currency is the Easter Caribbean Dollar and US$1 = EC$2.7).  I spoke with ‘man of the market’, Owen Clashing: he said that all the produce comes from local farmers whom they have arrangements with… Continue Reading

Today’s Workout…

…involved the resistance band above and my trusty boot. I started out with two minutes (not good) of a warm-up (I’m using that term loosely here). I logged on to Sweat and the City for resistance band exercise ideas, so with a couple of those ideas along with some of my own I did: shoulder presses in a super-set with one-leg (on knees) push-ups (3 sets) shoulder presses with on one leg (3 sets) – I like the one leg… Continue Reading
